Qanooni AI
Microsoft Office-native legal AI that learns a firm's tone, style, and standards

What Qanooni AI is building
Qanooni is not asking lawyers to learn new software. It lives inside Microsoft Word and Outlook, the two applications that legal professionals already spend most of their day inside. Open a Word document, and Qanooni's AI sidebar is already there. The platform trains on a firm's existing documents, templates, and communication standards, so the AI learns to draft in the voice of that firm rather than producing generic legal prose. A partner at a Dubai corporate law firm drafts very differently from a barrister in London or an in-house counsel in Riyadh. Qanooni makes those differences the model's default rather than something the user has to configure on every use. The specific capabilities span the full lifecycle of legal document work: generating first drafts from brief descriptions, reviewing and redlining existing documents, clause analysis and comparison against a firm's playbook, proposal generation, research surfacing, and litigation support. The platform integrates with document management systems (iManage, NetDocuments, and others) so that the institutional knowledge of the entire firm, not just one lawyer's history, is available to every user. The UAE angle is the product's most distinctive design constraint. The UAE legal landscape is a blend of civil law, common law, and Sharia principles, so flexibility and adaptability are built into Qanooni's DNA. No Western legal AI platform was designed for that combination. Harvey, Legora, and Ivo were built for US and UK common law environments. Qanooni is the first legal AI that treats the MENA legal system as the primary, not as an edge case to be configured.
Why this matters
The legal AI market hit a record $2.4 billion in funding in 2025. Harvey is valued at $8 billion. Legora just closed a $150 million Series C at $1.8 billion. Ivo raised $55 million at $355 million. Every one of these companies is building for Western markets, primarily US Am Law 100 firms and UK Magic Circle firms. None of them is building specifically for the Middle East legal market, where corporate law spans DIFC common law courts, mainland UAE civil law, and Sharia-compliant structures, often within the same matter. Anuscha Iqbal has 18 years in finance and fintech with deep regional experience. She has already sold two companies to global acquirers. The adoption argument is also structurally sound: legal tech historically fails at onboarding because it asks lawyers to leave their existing workflow. Qanooni's Microsoft Office integration removes that barrier entirely. There is no login screen, no new platform to learn, no migration of documents. The AI appears where lawyers already are.
