- Senior/Staff-leaning IC role building backend + LLM/agent infrastructure that ships to production (APIs, pipelines, evals, reliability, cost/latency), with real ownership over architecture and quality. - Team: small, high-signal, builder culture; direct collaboration with founders/PM; strong code review; fast iteration without chaos. - Work: ambiguous problems, measurable outcomes, room to go deep on systems (distributed workflows, caching, observability, security) and to build developer-facing tooling/SDKs. - Constraints: remote-friendly (or hybrid with flexibility), ability to travel when needed, sane on-call, and clear expectations.
Why Eqan is exploring
- I’m ready to take on broader end-to-end ownership (from design → build → launch → operate) and want a role where LLM systems are core product/infra, not a side experiment. - I’m optimizing for a team where speed and quality both matter: shipping quickly, but with strong engineering fundamentals (testing, monitoring, clear interfaces). - I want to work closer to product impact and users, and on harder reliability/scale problems than my current scope allows.
What won't fit on a resume
- I’m unusually good at turning messy, ambiguous requirements into a concrete plan and a shippable first version, then iterating with metrics. - I’ve reverse-engineered “black box” systems by inspecting SDK behavior, API payloads/responses, and docs, then reproducing behavior with parity tests (including environment-level parity like CUDA/GPU setup). - I care a lot about operational excellence: runbooks, dashboards, failure-mode thinking, and making systems boring to operate. - I communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders and can “sell” a technical approach by hiding complexity and focusing on outcomes.
