What Kazimi is building

Kazimi is a security layer that lets a mobile app prove its own telemetry is real. The integration is deliberately small: a developer drops the Kazimi library into the app, the library encrypts signals about the device's execution environment, and the developer decrypts the verdict through an API. What comes back is not a risk score handed down by a third party but a statement about the developer's own first-party data. The detection surface is the classic mobile-tampering set, applied to marketing signals rather than to logins: device emulation, rooted and jailbroken devices, repackaged or tampered builds, code injection, and replay attacks. The company's framing on its own site is that fraudulent signals do not just cost media budget, they poison the downstream systems: bots get treated as high-value users, LiveOps KPIs drift, and user-acquisition spend is allocated against a fiction. The cryptographic choice is the interesting part. Kazimi uses privacy-preserving proofs to establish signal origin and quality without collecting personal data and without asking the user for a permission prompt. That is a specific bet about the post-IDFA world: attribution has already migrated to first-party signals, and nobody has been verifying those signals. The product is platform-agnostic by design, sitting alongside existing MMPs and analytics stacks including Firebase rather than trying to replace them. The named customer shape is mobile gaming studios, rewards platforms, and fintech apps, which is exactly the set of apps where a bot has a direct financial incentive to look like a person.

the money

Why this matters

The founding team built fraud detection at Adjust, the Berlin mobile analytics company AppLovin acquired for roughly $1 billion in 2021. That is not a credential flourish; it is the reason the product exists in this shape. Andreas Naumann ran Adjust's anti-fraud team and drove its bot-detection expansion through the Unbotify acquisition, and his stated principle then was to catch fraudulent activity before attribution takes place rather than reconciling it afterward. Kazimi is that principle rebuilt as infrastructure the developer owns. On timing, the coverage of the round cites a global mobile advertising market of about $419 billion a year and notes that bot traffic is projected to exceed human internet traffic for the first time in 2026. Take the second number as directional rather than gospel, but the direction is the whole argument: as more app signal gets pointed at AI systems and automated bidding, unverified telemetry stops being a media-buying nuisance and becomes corrupted training and optimisation data. The honest counter-argument is that MMPs and ad networks already sell fraud detection, and app teams are tired of buying it. Kazimi's answer is architectural rather than commercial: the verification happens inside the app the developer controls, cryptographically, before anyone else in the chain gets a chance to grade their own homework.

Investors: Market One Capital (lead), IBB Ventures, Angels: Petri Hyökyranta (ex-CTO, Rovio), Janne Peltola (ex-data scientist, Supercell), Erik Massmann (ex-CFO, Birkenstock Group and Sportradar)

the outlook

Hiring outlook

Two engineering roles are live on Kazimi's own Greenhouse board right now, both in Berlin, both posted around the funding announcement. The company describes itself there as building 'a new generation of security infrastructure for mobile apps'. This is explicit, current, and small enough that each hire is a real decision.

How to actually get hired at Kazimi

Why applying the normal way doesn't work

Kazimi uses an ATS, but referrals still come first. Cold applications aren't ignored — they're just behind referrals, sourced candidates, and recruiter picks.

What to show them

Take any open-source Android app, instrument it with a small attestation shim, and run it under a stock emulator, a rooted device, and a Frida-hooked build. Publish a short write-up of which environment signals survive each case, what a replay attack looks like against your own endpoint, and what your latency cost was for the crypto on cold start. Kazimi advertises ultra-fast initialisation and low latency, so a real number for init overhead on a mid-tier device is the single most useful thing you can hand them.

A cold email that works at Kazimi

Subject: Full-stack Engineer (Berlin), [your one-line proof]
Hi August, I spent a weekend instrumenting an Android build to see which execution-environment signals survive a Frida hook and an emulator, and the honest answer was 'fewer than I expected, and the ones that survive cost me 40ms on cold start'. Write-up and repo below. You've said the interesting problem is doing this with modern cryptography without a permission prompt, and I'd like to hear where my latency budget is wrong.

What Kazimi screens for

Look at the cap table shape rather than the headline. Market One Capital led, IBB Ventures came in, and then the angels are Rovio's former CTO, an ex-Supercell data scientist, and a CFO from Birkenstock and Sportradar. Those first two are the buyer: mobile gaming studios are precisely who bleeds money to bot traffic in rewarded and UA flows. A pre-seed whose angels are its customers is a company that already knows where the first ten logos come from, which is why the two Berlin engineering roles opened the same week the money did. The window is now and it is narrow. Four founders, two open engineering seats, a Greenhouse board with nothing else on it.

Don't send a generic CV to Kazimi. Mirror the job posting's language to get past automated screening.

avoid

Don't make these mistakes

Two separate traps. First, do not explain mobile ad fraud to this team. Andreas Naumann ran fraud prevention at Adjust from 2015 and led its bot-detection work; Ville Mikkola was hired by Adjust to head the Coalition Against Ad Fraud. A note that opens by describing SDK spoofing or click injection as an emerging problem reads as someone who found the category last week. Second, do not assume Chase is the technical founder and pitch him accordingly. He has a PhD in diplomatic history from Georgetown and ran global communications at Adjust before a stint as VP of Communications at btov Partners. Dropping 'zero-knowledge proofs' at him as a shibboleth is a misread; so is talking down. Write to him about what the company is trying to change in the market, and save the cryptography for August or Andreas.

Mistakes that kill Kazimi applications

  • At people, a copy-paste CV is immediately obvious. It's an instant no.

  • Lead with their problem, not your ambition. Kazimi is focused on The founding team built fraud detection at Adjust, the Berlin mobile analytics company AppLovin acquired for roughly $1 billion in 2021 — show you understand that.

  • Don't apply and wait. The median Tech application gets no response ever. One follow-up at day five roughly doubles reply rates.
