Creem
Merchant-of-record billing that your own AI agents operate over MCP
Last verified September 19, 2026 · Updated daily
What Creem is building
Creem is a merchant of record for software companies: it is the legal seller in every transaction, so it handles card, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay checkout in 190-plus countries and local currencies, VAT/GST/sales-tax collection and remittance, invoicing, fraud screening and chargebacks. On top of that sits billing built for AI products (credit wallets, metered billing on tokens, API calls, storage or compute, seat and prepaid models), affiliates and revenue splits with automatic payouts, short links with conversion tracking, and a native mobile app for store alerts. Pricing is 3.9% plus 40 cents per successful transaction, no monthly fee. The interesting design decision is what they did not build. Gabriel Ferraz's framing: a lot of startups are racing to build agent workflows or agentic payments; Creem went the other way. Everything in the dashboard is exposed through an MCP server, a CLI and an API, so a customer's own agent (Claude Code, Cursor, anything that speaks MCP) can create products, spin up checkouts, manage subscriptions, issue refunds and watch store activity. The founder's goal is a store that runs and optimises itself so revenue can grow without headcount. The 12-to-18-month roadmap is agent-operated billing and monetisation, growth tooling (affiliates, analytics, marketing-channel tracking), and global compliance and payouts across fiat and stablecoin rails.
Why this matters
Inovo's Dawid Sugier describes the customer as five or ten engineers building businesses worth tens, sometimes hundreds of millions, who still burn too much time on accounting, tax and operations. Creem is a data point for its own thesis: about 15 people, over €2M ARR, more than doubled since last August, with the first ten months run by the two founders and no sales team. The competitive set is Stripe, Paddle, Lemon Squeezy, Gumroad and Whop (Creem publishes comparison pages against each). The moat in merchant-of-record is not UI; it is the tax, fraud and payout machinery across 190 countries, which is exactly where the new hires are going (three payments-and-compliance roles). If small AI-native companies keep scaling revenue faster than headcount, the vendor that lets an agent run the whole back office wins by default.

How to actually get hired at Creem
Why applying the normal way doesn't work
Creem runs an applicant tracking system, but hiring managers still work referrals first. A cold application to Creem isn't dead, it's just fourth in line behind internal referrals, sourced candidates and recruiter pipelines.
Who to contact at Creem
What to show them
Build against their public docs: an MCP-driven demo where an agent creates a product, a usage-metered plan and an affiliate split, then monitors a test sale and issues a refund, all from Claude Code with no dashboard clicks. Record it, then write the onboarding sequence you would send to indie AI founders migrating off Lemon Squeezy or Stripe, with the objection you expect at each step.
A cold email that works at Creem
What Creem screens for
A Polish lead (Inovo) into a Tallinn company with Bolt's Markus Villig as an angel is the CEE-Baltics operator network at work, and the round came after revenue doubled rather than before. Look at what they are hiring: founding AE, founding growth marketer, GTM engineer, plus fraud and accounting seniors. That is a company that has product-market fit and is now building the machine around it. The three-day paid work trial is unusual and tells you the founders decide on shipped work, not interviews.
A tailored CV beats a generic one. Use Creem's job description language to clear filters.
Don't make these mistakes
Do not explain to Gabriel that global payments are hard. He took his first payment at a flea market at 12, left university at 16 for crypto, ran a crypto-focused dev agency in Brazil, scaled a payments platform past €180M in volume, and worked at Google and Adyen. Do not pitch 'add stablecoins' or 'build agentic checkout'; both are already on the roadmap or deliberately not the strategy. Alec built KYC infrastructure at Adyen and backend systems for crypto brokerages, so 'we should tighten fraud rules' without specifics will fall flat. Bring a real fraud pattern, a tax-edge-case, or a merchant-of-record ops failure you have actually handled.
Mistakes that kill Creem applications
Generic CVs stand out at a -person company — and not in a good way. Fastest path to rejection.
Don't open with what you want. Open with what Creem is dealing with right now — Inovo's Dawid Sugier describes the customer as five or ten engineers building businesses worth tens, sometimes hundreds of millions, who still burn too much time on accounting, tax and operations, and what you'd do about it.
