What Destro AI is building
Destro does not build robots. It builds the layer that tells a warehouse full of them, and the people working beside them, what to do next. MothershipOS is the orchestration engine: it assigns tasks across robots, carts, trucks and human workers in real time and keeps the whole floor working against one set of priorities. VisionOS is the on-robot piece: mobile manipulation policies built on open-weight vision-language-action models and trained from human demonstrations, so a robot can handle carts, pallets and totes it wasn't hard-coded for. The first beachhead is cross-dock, where goods come off one truck, get sorted into mixed loads, and go out on others. It is messy, time-boxed and full of handoffs between people and machines, which is exactly where single-vendor robot fleets stall. Destro runs on Miva Robotics cart-movers at Yusen today, but the platform is deliberately robot-agnostic. The traction is real and countable. Yusen started with a 3-robot pilot at a Pacific Northwest facility, is scaling to 26 robots there, and is launching a second pilot with 17 robots in Southern California. Manthan told TechCrunch the company is on path to be cash-flow positive by the end of this year.
Why this matters
Warehouses no longer buy one kind of robot. They buy AMRs from one vendor, arms from another, and are now being pitched humanoids, and each comes with its own fleet manager that knows nothing about the others or the humans on shift. The result is robots that sit idle because nobody upstream told them what mattered. Base10's Adeyemi Ajao put it plainly: the value is that 'the robots stay on, the warehouse keeps using them, and that's the hardest part of this industry.' Destro's own claims are 30-40% productivity gains and a 3-5 month payback, but the stronger evidence is Yusen going from 3 robots to 26 at one site and opening a second.

How to actually get hired at Destro AI
Why applying the normal way doesn't work
Destro AI runs an applicant tracking system, but hiring managers still work referrals first. A cold application to Destro AI isn't dead, it's just fourth in line behind internal referrals, sourced candidates and recruiter pipelines.

What to show them
Build a small multi-agent task allocator in simulation: two robot types with different capabilities plus human pickers, with tasks arriving on a truck schedule. Show how it handles a robot dropping offline mid-task and what the throughput cost is. A recorded run plus the dispatch logic is enough.

What Destro AI screens for
Base10 backs companies automating unglamorous real-economy work, and Bonfire is a B2B seed specialist; neither is a robotics tourist. They co-led because Destro has production revenue and a logistics customer expanding inside a year. Unshackled wrote the pre-seed check when visa constraints made Manthan a hard sell elsewhere, which says something about how much conviction it took early. The careers page reads like a company deploying faster than it can staff: technicians in three states and a field-deployment engineer before a big research bench. Candidates who have actually kept robots running on a warehouse floor have the edge.

Don't make these mistakes
Generic robotics enthusiasm or a pitch about how capable humanoids are getting. Manthan's whole thesis is 'we are winning against robotics companies because we are not a robotics company.' He has deployed 150+ robots across enterprise customers and spent years as the person operators called when fleets didn't work together. He cares about uptime on a real floor, not demos. Talk about integration, exceptions and shift handoffs.
Mistakes that kill Destro AI applications
Generic CVs stand out at a -person company β and not in a good way. Fastest path to rejection.
Don't open with what you want. Open with what Destro AI is dealing with right now β Warehouses no longer buy one kind of robot, and what you'd do about it.
Most AI applications get ghosted. A day-five follow-up can double your response rate.
