What Sabi is building
Sabi is building a brain-AI interface you wear, not one you get implanted. The hardware is an ordinary-looking cap (beanie and bucket-hat variants are on the site) packed with tiny EEG sensors that read neural signals through hair, with no gel, no scalp contact and no surgery. Coverage of the launch puts the sensor count at 70,000 to 100,000 at roughly 1mm each. The sensors run on a custom chip that Sabi says is over 50x more power-efficient than the Texas Instruments ADS1299 in its internal benchmarks, and the cap talks wirelessly to a phone or laptop. The software bet is a "Brain Foundation Model" trained on what Sabi calls the largest disclosed non-invasive neural dataset: more than 100,000 hours of labeled recordings. The three target behaviors are imagined speech to text, thought-to-prompt commands for an AI assistant, and predicting keystrokes or on-screen actions before you make them. The stated goal is around 30 words per minute of decoded text. Data is encrypted from the sensor onward, and inference is designed to run on encrypted data. All of those numbers are company claims. Sabi has not published accuracy figures, calibration time or pricing. That is the honest frame for anyone joining: the thesis is huge and the proof is still ahead of you.
Why this matters
The input layer for AI is still the keyboard. Vinod Khosla's line in the announcement is the whole argument: "You cannot perform a billion brain surgeries to replace a billion keyboards." Implants like Neuralink work for patients, but non-invasive is the only path that reaches consumers. The skeptic's case is real, and candidates should know it. EEG signal is noisy. In a Meta study of 35 participants that Trending Topics cited, EEG character error rates averaged 67% versus 32% for MEG. Sabi's answer is to brute-force the problem with sensor density plus a foundation model trained on a dataset nobody else has, which is the same scale-beats-noise bet that worked in speech and vision. A $50M seed is what it costs to find out whether that bet holds.
Investors: Khosla Ventures (lead), Accel, Initialized Capital, DST Global, Collaborative Fund, Ascend, Angels: Kevin Weil (former OpenAI CPO)
Hiring outlook
Explicit. The press release says the money grows the neuroscience, hardware and ML teams, and the Ashby board has nine live roles, most of them Lead-level hardware positions in San Francisco paying $300-400K plus equity.

How to actually get hired at Sabi
Why applying the normal way doesn't work
Sabi uses an ATS, but referrals still come first. Cold applications aren't ignored β they're just behind referrals, sourced candidates, and recruiter picks.

What to show them
A short write-up or repo showing a low-power streaming pipeline for high-channel-count sensor data over BLE: buffering, compression, timestamp sync, and on-device encryption, which Sabi says starts at the sensor.

What Sabi screens for
Khosla leading a $50M seed fits its pattern of backing very large, very technical bets early. Accel and DST joining says this is priced like a platform, and Forbes reported a $600M valuation, which the company hasn't confirmed. Kevin Weil writing a check is the AI-product signal: the former OpenAI CPO thinks the interface to models is up for grabs. The hiring window is right now. The board is almost entirely senior hardware roles (electrical, firmware, sensors, reliability, audio, camera), which tells you they are moving from prototype to a manufacturable device. Those people get locked in early, and whoever owns those subsystems will shape the product for years.
Don't send a generic CV to Sabi. Mirror the job posting's language to get past automated screening.
Don't make these mistakes
"Mind-reading is so cool" or sci-fi framing. Rahul and Atmadeep are pitching a consumer device to people who are rightly skeptical of EEG, and hype is the thing they have to fight every day. Atmadeep co-authored MindEye (fMRI-to-image reconstruction, NeurIPS 2023). Don't explain neural decoding to him. Hardware candidates also shouldn't lead with prototypes. Every role here says "Lead", and with a beanie meant to ship by end of 2026 the question is whether you've taken a wearable through DVT/PVT into manufacturing.
Mistakes that kill Sabi applications
At people, a copy-paste CV is immediately obvious. It's an instant no.
Lead with their problem, not your ambition. Sabi is focused on The input layer for AI is still the keyboard β show you understand that.
Don't apply and wait. The median AI application gets no response ever. One follow-up at day five roughly doubles reply rates.
