Zero
AI-native GTM operating system that replaces the CRM and the tools bolted onto it
Last verified September 19, 2026 · Updated daily
What Zero is building
Zero is a GTM operating system that replaces the CRM and the 12-plus tools startups duct-tape around it. Four modules share one context: Prospect (find companies worth selling to using buying signals such as funding rounds, hiring patterns and job posts that mention specific technologies, then run email, LinkedIn and dialer sequences from inside the product), Close (a pipeline that keeps itself current from conversation history, stakeholders and next actions, with agents prepping meetings), Grow (product-usage data from Stripe and PostHog correlated with customer conversations to flag churn risk and expansion), and Scale (build your own agents for research, deal management and signal tracking). The thesis, in Santtu's words, is that agents break CRM lock-in: agents can read data, permissions and configuration and replicate it elsewhere, and configuration was always the hard part, not the data. That is why the product ships with AI-assisted migration, HubSpot live sync, a Slack interface for querying the CRM, an MCP server, and an API for custom dashboards; switching cost is the moat they are attacking. Under the hood it is Vue.js and TypeScript on a custom real-time sync engine and component library, Node on the backend, PostgreSQL, GCP Cloud Run. Real-time pipelines process email, meetings, Slack and product data; call transcripts create deals automatically. The engineering JD says there is no PM layer and that the team uses AI coding agents heavily.
Why this matters
The customer numbers are specific: Teamspective reports closing twice as much new business since switching, Watchdog cut its sales cycle from 60 days to 30 including enterprise deals, and Emfas says Zero saves the team a full workday a week. Primary's Cassie Young put the thesis plainly: the biggest opportunity in CRM is not a better system of record but software built around the customer. The space is crowded (Zero publishes comparison pages against HubSpot, Attio, Pipedrive, Lightfield, Monaco, Folk, Clarify and Ahoy), so the bet is structural rather than feature-level. If agents really do make CRM configuration portable, the incumbent's 25-year switching-cost moat erodes, and the winner is whoever unifies prospecting, pipeline and customer success in one context first. Two founders who scaled Smartly.io past $100M ARR, hundreds of AI-native startups already on the product, and a New York lease with an 18-month clock is a credible attempt.

Three live roles on zero.inc/careers (Software Engineer, GTM Operator, Customer Success Specialist) and a stated plan to grow from 13 to about 20 people by year-end, with a new New York go-to-market office. The engineering JD is explicit: 'the team is tiny, the product has traction, and the decisions made in the next 12 months will define the company.'

How to actually get hired at Zero
Why applying the normal way doesn't work
There's an ATS, but at Zero, referrals get priority. Your cold application competes with sourced candidates and internal recommendations.
Who to contact at Zero
What to show them
A working migration agent: point it at a HubSpot or Pipedrive sandbox, have it read pipelines, custom fields, permissions and automations, and reproduce them in a target schema, with a diff report of what it could not map. Full-stack TypeScript, Postgres, built with an AI coding agent, and a short note on what you'd change in the sync layer for real-time.

What Zero screens for
Primary is a New York seed fund leading a Helsinki company and the announcement pairs it with a Manhattan GTM office: this round is about the US motion, and the Nordic angels (Supercell, Lovable, Silo AI, Langdock) are the operator network behind it. The engineering JD says the founders want people who build prototypes directly with customers, no PM layer, and who already ship with Claude Code or Cursor. Being early here means having real influence over architecture and product direction; the posting says so in those words.

Don't make these mistakes
Do not pitch Tuomo that CRMs are broken. He co-founded Smartly.io and scaled it to $100M ARR, he built a CRM tool (Dealmachine) and a predictive optimiser (Metrify) years before Zero, and a customer recommendation on his profile calls him one of the most talented developers in Finland; he has more opinions about this market than you do. Generic 'AI-native' language reads as noise. Santtu ran Smartly's go-to-market across five markets and left when it was 900 people; do not pitch him outbound-volume or sequencing hacks, he has seen the spam side of that trade. Lead with a specific configuration-portability or signal-quality problem you solved.
