The product
What Mueon is building
Mueon is building an "Exponential Computing Platform" around Cubelets: modular, three-dimensional compute-plus-memory building blocks. Instead of laying processors and memory out side by side on a motherboard, Cubelets stack them vertically and integrate interconnect, power delivery and thermal management into the same unit. Shorter data paths mean less energy spent moving bits and lower latency. Oregon Venture Fund calls them "Legos for the data center," and the modules are designed to host GPU, x86 and Arm processors. The design stance is that packaging, interconnect, power and thermals are first-class variables rather than afterthoughts bolted on once the chip is done. The company is working on four tracks in parallel: silicon and system architecture, advanced integration, software and system orchestration, and ecosystem validation. Partners quoted at launch include d-Matrix's CTO Sudeep Bhoja and Ampere Computing's co-CEO Rohit Vidwans. All the performance numbers are targets, not shipped results: up to 10x gains in power and cost efficiency within the same rack footprint, with the platform designed to scale toward megawatt-class rack density. The technology page on the site still reads "Coming Soon," which tells you where they are: pre-production, hiring the people to get there.
The money
Why this matters
AI infrastructure is now bottlenecked less by raw FLOPs than by moving data and removing heat. Memory bandwidth, interconnect and power density per rack are where the money and the megawatts go. 3D stacking is the industry's main lever on that; Intel's Foveros packaging is one example, and Oregon Venture Fund says Mueon's team includes a co-inventor of Foveros. Taking that idea from the package level up to a system-level building block is a bet that the next efficiency jump comes from integration, not from a better core. The investor list is the tell. Intel Capital led the seed and holds a board seat, IQT (the US intelligence community's venture arm) is in, and Maverick Silicon, a fund that normally invests late-stage, chose to lead a Series A. That's a lot of semiconductor-specialist conviction behind a company that hasn't shipped product yet.

How to actually get hired at Mueon
Why applying the normal way doesn't work
There's an ATS, but at Mueon, referrals get priority. Your cold application competes with sourced candidates and internal recommendations.

What to show them
A two-page case study of a block you closed timing and power on, with the specific trade-offs you made on floorplan and power delivery, framed around how those choices would change if memory sat directly above the logic die.
A cold email that works at Mueon
What Mueon screens for
This is an Intel-alumni company backed by Intel's own venture arm, which is a strong read on where senior Intel silicon talent thinks the next big gain is. Maverick Silicon usually invests late-stage and makes selective Series A bets only as sole lead on high-conviction deals; leading here puts Manish Muthal on the board. The company had about 20 people at its 2025 seed and is now posting 13 senior silicon and systems roles at once, all on-site in Hillsboro, Intel's backyard. If you are an experienced ASIC, physical-design, packaging or thermal engineer in the Portland area, this is the rare startup that needs exactly your skills.

Avoid
Don't make these mistakes
Wilfred spent 27 years at Intel and became an Intel Fellow working on client and data-center microprocessors. Do not explain chiplets, 3D stacking or 'the AI compute crunch' to him. Generic 'I'm excited about AI hardware' reads as a tourist. Lead with a specific tape-out, timing closure, thermal or post-silicon problem you owned and what you did about it.
Mistakes that kill Mueon applications
A recycled CV gets rejected fast at Mueon ( people). They notice.
Don't open with what you want. Open with what Mueon is dealing with right now — AI infrastructure is now bottlenecked less by raw FLOPs than by moving data and removing heat, and what you'd do about it.
Most AI applications get ghosted. A day-five follow-up can double your response rate.
