The product
What Swamp Club is building
Swamp is a platform for building AI automation out of behaviors instead of free-running agents. Swamp calls this behavior-centric design, and the core idea is to separate understanding from execution. A behavior is a unit of work with typed inputs and outputs, versioned data schemas and isolated access to credentials. Behaviors compose into deterministic workflows that call an LLM only at the step that actually needs reasoning. The model doesn't decide what happens next at every turn. It is harness-agnostic. You build behaviors from Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code or OpenCode, and they run from the CLI, an agent, Slack or an API. They can scale out through a central server with remote workers. Credentials live in encrypted vaults the agent never sees. Every run is tracked and exportable over OpenTelemetry, and behavior data is versioned and queryable across a team. There's a public extension registry covering cloud providers, databases, observability and SaaS tools, and the community has published more than 1,500 extensions since the first prototype in March 2026. This is the infrastructure-as-code worldview applied to agents. The founding team (Adam Jacob, Nick Stinemates, Paul Stack, John Watson, Mahir Lupinacci) comes out of Chef and System Initiative, and Swamp reads like their answer to the question 'what does a repeatable, auditable unit of automation look like when an LLM is in the loop?'
The money
Why this matters
Agent reliability and cost are now the blocking problems, not capability. Swamp's release cites Gartner's prediction that over 40% of agentic AI projects will be canceled by 2027. Swamp's own numbers make the deterministic case concretely. In an open-source trip-planner comparison published on GitHub, the Swamp agent used 1,183 input tokens to LangChain's 24,611 (about 14x fewer), at roughly a sixth of the cost per plan. The company also reports an 8x token reduction on a production code-review workflow. These are vendor benchmarks, but they're published and reproducible, which is more than most agent frameworks offer.

The outlook
Hiring outlook
The press release points to open roles on the Ashby board, and a $7M seed for a team of about five (per RuntimeWire) implies hiring. But no specific roles were publicly listed when we checked, so this is implied, not explicit.

How to actually get hired at Swamp Club
Why applying the normal way doesn't work
Swamp Club has an ATS but the real pipeline is referrals → sourced → recruiter picks → cold apps. You can still get through, but know where you stand.

What to show them
Publish a real Swamp extension for a service the registry doesn't cover yet, then write a short side-by-side of the same workflow as a LangChain agent vs. Swamp behaviors, with token counts. That's the same methodology Swamp used in its own trip-planner benchmark.
A cold email that works at Swamp Club
What Swamp Club screens for
Amplify Partners backs deeply technical infrastructure founders, and Sunil Dhaliwal's quote ('ship agentic automation that works, not sometimes works') is the whole bet. This is a reset for a battle-tested founding team. The Swamp company was founded in February 2026, had a prototype in March, shipped GA in October and already has 1,500+ community extensions. A tiny team with a large open-source surface means early hires will own big chunks of the product. The fastest way in is to publish a Swamp extension or write-up first, because the community feed and leaderboard are exactly where this team looks.
Tailor your CV to the specific Swamp Club role rather than sending a general one. Applications that mirror the language of the job description clear automated filters at a materially higher rate.
Avoid
Don't make these mistakes
Don't open with 'agents are the future.' Adam has spent two decades arguing for deterministic, declarative automation (Chef, then six years at System Initiative), and Swamp's whole pitch is that LLM-centric agents are fragile and expensive. Enthusiasm for autonomous agents runs against the thesis. Also skip any 'I've used Chef' nostalgia unless it comes with a real point about where config management broke for you.
Mistakes that kill Swamp Club applications
Don't send the same CV you sent everywhere else. At people it's obvious, and it's the fastest rejection there is.
Lead with their problem, not your ambition. Swamp Club is focused on Agent reliability and cost are now the blocking problems, not capability — show you understand that.
Don't apply and wait. The median AI application gets no response ever. One follow-up at day five roughly doubles reply rates.
