Wyre AI

Reads construction drawings and specs, returns structured scopes and the conflicts hiding between them

What Wyre AI is building

Wyre AI is document intelligence for the phase of a construction project before anyone breaks ground. A general contractor bidding a job receives a drawing set and a specification book — often thousands of pages — and has days to work out exactly what is in scope, what is missing, and where the two documents contradict each other. That work is done by people reading under deadline, and what they miss becomes a change order later. The product splits into two named pieces. Wyre Scopes ingests a full document set and produces organised, trade-specific scope packages, with every line traceable back to the page it came from. Wyre Check is the adversarial half: it hunts for conflicts and gaps *between* the drawings and the specs. The company's framing of it is the sharpest line on their site: most RFIs don't start in the field, they start in the documents. The workflow is deliberately unglamorous. Upload the set, let the platform analyse it, review colour-coded output with references you can click back to, then bid. Traceability is the design constraint that matters — a preconstruction lead will not act on an extracted scope they cannot check against the source page, and an early false positive kills trust in the tool permanently. The numbers the company publishes are operational rather than aspirational: 250+ projects analysed, 250,000+ scopes and issues identified, and roughly $3 billion in project value supported before this round closed.

Why this matters

Sunil Dorairajan has done the adjacent version of this once already. He co-founded Pype, whose AutoSpecs product automated submittal log creation from specifications, and Autodesk acquired the company in 2020. Pype attacked the document problem *after* the contract was signed. Wyre attacks it before, which is the higher-leverage end: Ty Findley's stated reason for leading the round is that preconstruction 'is the phase where the highest-stakes decisions are made and margins are set.' The timing argument is that this class of work only became tractable recently. Extracting a defensible scope from a drawing set requires reading floor plans, sections, schedules and a spec book together and reasoning about what is *absent* — a multimodal, long-context, cross-document problem that pre-2024 models simply could not do. The market's willingness to believe it can be done now is new, and the competitive window is short because Autodesk and Procore are both awake to preconstruction. One investor detail is worth more than the dollar figure: WND Ventures is DPR Construction's corporate venture arm. A large general contractor putting money in is a customer underwriting the thesis with its own balance sheet.

Investors: Ironspring Ventures (lead; Ty Findley, co-founder & GP), WND Ventures (DPR Construction's venture arm), Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation, Angels: Amar Hanspal (CEO of Motif, formerly Autodesk)

Hiring outlook

Six roles are live on the company's own careers page across two countries — three US commercial roles including a founding AE, and three product/engineering roles in India. The funding announcement names team expansion as a use of proceeds, and the company is at roughly 22 people, which is the size where each hire is still structural.

Working at Wyre AI

Since 2025, Wyre AI has built Reads construction drawings and specs, returns structured scopes and the conflicts hiding between them. The team is now <50 people. Working at a AI company at this stage means broad remit, direct access to founders, and equity that still means something if the company works out.

Brambleton, Virginia, USA is where most Wyre AI positions are located.

How to actually get hired at Wyre AI

Why applying the normal way doesn't work

Wyre AI is <50 people. No recruiter, no HR. Your application goes to a founder juggling everything. Cold outreach is how you actually get seen.

Who to contact at Wyre AI

Who decides:a founder or department head
Best channel:LinkedIn or direct email

Founding team

VP
Varada Pyda
Chief Technology Officer

Ran engineering at Pype before the Autodesk acquisition, then led AI solutions at Autodesk Construction Solutions, where he worked on applying machine learning to construction documents at Autodesk's scale. He rejoined Dorairajan at Wyre AI as CTO, bringing the enterprise software, cloud and AI platform experience the company needs to take document extraction from demo to something contractors bid real money against.

SD
Sunil Dorairajan
Founder & CEO

Spent over a decade in commercial construction across preconstruction, estimating and procurement, watching teams comb thousands of pages under bid deadlines. He co-founded Pype in Reston, Virginia, whose AutoSpecs product used machine learning to compress submittal log creation from roughly 160 hours to minutes; Autodesk acquired Pype in 2020 and he stayed on as Senior Director of Construction Industry Strategy. He holds an MS in Construction Management from Virginia Tech. His line on why Wyre exists: 'The issues that eroded margins weren't surprises. They were in the documents the whole time.'

What to show them

Build a named-account map of general contractors in the Mid-Atlantic, segmented by how much preconstruction they do in-house versus outsource, and identify the five where Wyre Check would catch the most expensive class of conflict. Then get one real preconstruction lead on a call — not a Wyre customer, just someone who bids work — and write up what they said about how they currently catch scope gaps. Send that document. A founding AE who has already talked to the buyer is worth more than one with a bigger logo on their résumé.

A cold email that works at Wyre AI

Subject: Founding Account Executive (Northern Virginia, remote-friendly; 5+ yrs B2B SaaS), [your one-line proof]
Hi Sunil, you said the margin killers were in the documents the whole time. I called four precon leads in the Mid-Atlantic this month and asked how they catch a drawing-spec conflict today. Three of them described the same manual ritual and one told me about a $[X] change order that started as a missing spec section. Notes attached. I'd like to be the founding AE who sells against that story rather than against 'AI for construction'.

What Wyre AI screens for

Read the investor list as a thesis. Ironspring backs industrial supply chain and Findley says he is backing Sunil 'again' — repeat-founder conviction, which usually means a fast, high-trust process rather than a six-round loop. WND Ventures is DPR Construction's venture arm, meaning a major GC is both investor and design partner, so whoever takes the Founding AE seat inherits warm enterprise access instead of cold prospecting from zero. The Preconstruction Manager (SME) role is the most interesting and least contested: they are hiring a domain expert to sit between real precon workflows and the AI system, which is the job that decides whether the product is trusted. If you have five years of estimating and scoping experience and have never considered software, this is the rare posting written for you specifically.

Don't make these mistakes

Do not explain the construction industry to Sunil. He spent over a decade in commercial construction doing preconstruction, estimating and procurement before he ever wrote software, and he has already sold a contech company to Autodesk. 'AI is going to transform construction' is the single most predictable sentence in his inbox. Also skip the generic AI-for-documents pitch aimed at Varada Pyda — he ran engineering at Pype and then led AI solutions at Autodesk Construction Solutions, so he has personally shipped and maintained document-extraction models on exactly this data. Instead, name a specific failure you have seen: a scope gap between a drawing schedule and a spec section that became a change order, or a false positive pattern that made a precon team stop trusting a tool.

Mistakes that kill Wyre AI applications
