Every conversation that matters happens in person: the investor pitch, the doctor's diagnosis, the client deal, the standup. And almost all of it gets lost.
Pocket fixes that. It's a tiny device with three mics and one button. Press it, talk, and by the time you're done there's a transcript, a summary, and your to-dos waiting on your phone. Snap it to the back of your phone and it captures both sides of a call.
People love it, and it's taking off
- 400,000 devices shipped
- On track for 1 million users by the end of the year
- 35 people, live across the US and now Europe
We're growing faster than our design can keep up with. That's where you come in.
You own everything a customer touches
Not a feature or a single flow. Everything:
- The mobile app, where people relive every conversation seconds after it ends.
- The desktop app, where people search their memory and get real work done.
- The web app, so Pocket is available anywhere.
- The website, where people fall in love with Pocket and buy one.
- The device itself: pairing, recording, and that one button. Hardware and software that feel like a single product.
Who you'll work with
You'll work directly with Akshay, our CEO, who is a designer himself, and with our founding product designer. That means a CEO who cares about kerning as much as conversion, and a design partner who has shaped Pocket from day one. No layers, no handoffs, no design-by-committee. You'll take ideas from a rough sketch to a working prototype to production in days, not quarters.
The mission: make Pocket the most beautiful and most loved AI product in the world.
The problems are wide open
The design patterns for AI memory don't exist yet. You'll invent them.
- How should it feel to search everything you've ever said?
- How does an AI earn your trust when it's listening to your real life?
- What does a great summary look like when the model is only 95% sure?
- How should proactive assistance show up without getting creepy?
You'll design for streaming, uncertainty, and mistakes, and for the moments people need to check, correct, or take control. Privacy and trust are part of the product, not an afterthought.
You design with AI, not just for it
If your workflow looks the same as it did two years ago, this isn't the role for you.
You live in Paper, Figma Make, v0, Cursor, and Claude Code. You prototype in real code with real data, because an AI product has to be felt to be judged. A static mockup of a summary is not a summary.
You go wild when exploring and obsessive when polishing. And when a fix is faster to ship yourself, you open the code editor and ship it.
You're probably a fit if
- Your taste is undeniable. Your portfolio makes people stop scrolling, and you know the last 10% is where the magic happens.
- You're a builder first. Your instinct is "let me build it and see how it feels," not "let me write a deck."
- AI is how you already work, and you have strong, specific opinions about which AI products feel great and which feel broken.
- You move fast and care deeply. Scrappy when exploring, meticulous when shipping.
- You take extreme ownership. You spot what's broken and fix it without waiting for a ticket.
- You think across platforms and know what makes something feel native on iOS, desktop, and the web.
- You argue for your ideas and change your mind when the evidence says so.
Bonus points if you've shipped a consumer product people love, built something 0 to 1, designed for hardware, or have serious motion or front-end skills.
Why this is the best design job in AI right now
- Instant impact. Your work reaches hundreds of thousands of real people the day it ships.
- A design-led company. Your CEO is a designer, so design has a real seat at the table.
- Total ownership. Every surface, from a physical device to the website, is yours to shape.
- Uncharted territory. You'll define how humans and AI share memory.
- Atoms and pixels. Very few design roles let you shape both hardware and AI software.
- Hypergrowth. We're going from 400K devices to 1M users this year, and your career moves at that speed too.
Show us what you've got
Skip the cover letter. Send us:
- 2 or 3 shipped projects with what you owned, the hard calls you made, and what happened after launch.
- Something you built with AI, like a code prototype or a Paper, v0, or Figma Make exploration. Tell us how you made it.
- One thing you'd change about Pocket, and why.
Titles and years matter less to us than what you've built. If this got your heart rate up, apply.
Live on POCKET's board as of 23 Oct. We check it every day.
