The product
What Vocca is building
Vocca is an AI phone agent for medical practices. It picks up patient calls, works out what the patient needs, books the right slot directly in the practice's scheduling software, flags urgent cases and handles the repetitive admin (reminders, rescheduling, prep instructions). The agents are trained on medical vocabulary and on the workflows of each specialty. That last part is the actual product. Booking a radiology MRI is a different decision tree from booking a dental cleaning or an ophthalmology follow-up. The scale is real. Vocca says 15,000 practitioners across 1,500 practices in about 20 specialties now run on it, up from 2,000 practitioners a year ago. It handles more than one million patient conversations a month and resolves about 70% end to end without a human. Named customers include DAG Dental, Point Vision, Résonance Imagerie and the Rothschild Foundation Hospital in Paris. The Series A pushes Vocca from 'AI receptionist' toward running the whole patient journey, from the first call to the booked appointment to the follow-up. That means new channels beyond voice, more specialties, and the harder clinical-routing cases. It also means a real US launch out of a new New York office, with data hosted in-region for each market.
The money
Why this matters
Phone access is the bottleneck nobody budgets for. Practices miss calls because front-desk staff are also checking patients in, and every missed call is a lost appointment. Hoffenberg's announcement leads with exactly that: 73% of patients say they have given up on care at least once in five years, and in 7 of 10 cases the reason was the wait. Vocca reframes it as an access problem rather than a medical one. The timing argument is that voice agents finally clear the bar for regulated, high-stakes calls. A year ago Vocca reported 80%+ of requests resolved with no human. Today it reports 10x practitioner growth and 7x revenue growth. A French company scaling the same playbook into the US, with clinic-specific depth, is a credible challenger to US-native players who started horizontal.

Hiring outlook
Explicit and public. The careers page says Vocca is hiring 40 people in New York and Paris by year-end, doubling from about 40. The CEO's announcement post ends with 'We're hiring in New York and Paris.' The Ashby board has about 20 live roles across engineering, sales, ops and talent.
Working at Vocca
Vocca is AI front desk that answers and books patient calls for medical practices, and now <50 people. Working at a Healthcare company at this stage means broad remit, direct access to founders, and equity that still means something if the company works out.
Paris, France & New York, USA is where most Vocca positions are located. 7 roles are available remotely.
How to actually get hired at Vocca
Why applying the normal way doesn't work
Vocca is <50 people. No recruiter, no HR. Your application goes to a founder juggling everything. Cold outreach is how you actually get seen.

Founding team
Eliott co-founded Vocca in July 2024. Before that he co-founded Initiator VC (Olam Ventures), a fund backing student founders at Europe's top universities, after stints at Evercore in investment banking, Reverso in product and business development, and Viola Growth as a VC analyst. He holds a first-class BSc in Management from LSE and studied finance and entrepreneurship at Wharton.
Hugo co-founded Vocca with Eliott in 2024 and leads technology as CTO, owning the voice agent stack and the integrations into practice scheduling software across the US and Europe.
What to show them
Pick three US specialties Vocca will hit early (dental, imaging, ophthalmology). For each, map the top 2-3 practice-management/scheduling systems, the five most common inbound call intents, and which intents are unsafe to fully automate. One page per specialty.
A cold email that works at Vocca
What Vocca screens for
Norrsken is an impact fund, and its lead tells you what the thesis is: access to care, measured in answered calls and booked patients. Speedinvest and firstminute led the seed and doubled down here, and Heal Capital adds health-specific conviction. The hiring window is unusually wide open. The team is doubling in roughly a quarter, and the US side is literally titled 'Founding' and 'Country Launcher'. If you want to be early in a US launch with a product that already works at scale in Europe, the New York GTM and deployment roles are the ones to hit now.

Avoid
Don't make these mistakes
Eliott came up through VC and banking (Viola Growth, Evercore, then co-founding Initiator VC to back student founders) before starting Vocca. He has read a thousand 'AI will transform healthcare' pitches from the investor side, so leading with that is noise. Also skip 'voice AI is exploding'. His own framing is access and operations, not AI. Talk about missed calls, hold times and booking accuracy.
Mistakes that kill Vocca applications
A recycled CV gets rejected fast at Vocca (<50 people). They notice.
Don't open with what you want. Open with what Vocca is dealing with right now — Phone access is the bottleneck nobody budgets for, and what you'd do about it.
Most Healthcare applications get ghosted. A day-five follow-up can double your response rate.
