The product

What Forgepoint is building

Forgepoint's first product is Frank, an AI "Inside Sales Rep" that owns the RFQ-to-PO loop at job shops, foundries, metal service centers, stampers, molders and machine shops. Frank reads the RFQ email and its attachments, flags missing requirements, chases the buyer for the drawing spec nobody sent, builds a draft price from the shop's own cost model, routes it to an engineer or estimator for approval, then sends it and follows up. It keeps the correspondence and the pricing logic attached to every quote, so the reasoning behind a number survives the estimator who made it. The thesis is that the bottleneck in American manufacturing is often the front office, not the floor. A shop that takes four days to quote loses the job to the one that takes one. Frank doesn't try to replace the estimator's judgment. The company is explicit that engineers and salespeople keep the technical and commercial calls, and Frank does the administrative work around them. On a metal service center it matches material lists and cut lengths to the catalog and checks inventory. At a foundry it reviews part files and gathers the missing specs. The integration surface is the moat. The site lists connectors for Epicor, NetSuite, SAP, Sage, Infor, Syspro, Acumatica and Synchro, and Frank trains on each shop's quote archive, pricing spreadsheets, CAD files and job history. The data is never used to train models for other shops. Longer term, the founders say they want to apply the same pattern to other back-office functions.

The money

Why this matters

Manufacturers' buyers have moved to software-speed expectations. Forgepoint cites a 2025 Gardner Intelligence study finding that nearly half of manufacturers expect a vendor response within 24 hours. Most small and mid-size shops still quote out of an inbox, a spreadsheet and one senior estimator's head. The company reports seven-figure ARR within six months of Frank's launch, hundreds of weekly users, about 30% more quotes per month and time-to-quote down more than 55% (all company-reported). If those numbers hold, the quoting desk is a wedge into the ERP-adjacent workflow of a sector that software vendors have mostly ignored.

How to actually get hired at Forgepoint

Why applying the normal way doesn't work

Forgepoint uses an ATS, but referrals still come first. Cold applications aren't ignored — they're just behind referrals, sourced candidates, and recruiter picks.

What to show them

Take a real public RFQ package (a PDF drawing plus an email thread) and build a small pipeline that pulls out material, quantity, tolerances and finish, flags missing specs, and writes the buyer email asking for them. Bonus: map the output onto an Epicor or NetSuite quote object.

A cold email that works at Forgepoint

Subject: Forward Deployed Engineer (NYC, $175K–$215K + equity), [your one-line proof]
Hi Alex, Frank's hardest job looks like knowing what's missing from an RFQ before anyone prices it. I built a small extractor that flags missing drawing specs on real RFQ packages and drafts the buyer follow-up. Here's what it caught on five of them. I'd love to do this against live shop data at Forgepoint.

What Forgepoint screens for

Primary is a New York seed fund that does hands-on post-investment work. a16z speedrun backs teams that are already shipping, and this one shows seven-figure ARR inside six months on a product with deep ERP integrations. Twelve open roles at a seed-stage company is unusually aggressive hiring, and the mix tells you the plan. Heavy on deployment (FDE, Deployment Strategist, Head of Deployment) means every new customer is a hands-on integration. If you've done implementation work in ERP, MES or industrial software, you are the profile they're short on right now.

Don't send a generic CV to Forgepoint. Mirror the job posting's language to get past automated screening.

Avoid

Don't make these mistakes

Don't pitch generic 'AI for SMBs' or talk about how manufacturing is 'ripe for disruption.' Jack spent his pre-Forgepoint career inside industrials (Northrop Grumman, Bain's Advanced Manufacturing practice, Xwing), and both founders spent months shadowing employees in Midwest plants before writing code. A candidate who has never seen an RFQ, a traveler or an ERP screen will read as a tourist. For Alex, a former Brex engineering lead, skip the 'I love fast-moving startups' line and show you can ship integrations against ugly legacy systems.

Mistakes that kill Forgepoint applications

  • At people, a copy-paste CV is immediately obvious. It's an instant no.

  • Lead with their problem, not your ambition. Forgepoint is focused on Manufacturers' buyers have moved to software-speed expectations — show you understand that.

  • Don't apply and wait. The median AI application gets no response ever. One follow-up at day five roughly doubles reply rates.
