What Marble is building
Marble is an open-source platform for FRAML, the combined fraud and anti-money-laundering workload at banks, fintechs, payment providers and crypto exchanges. Risk and compliance teams write, test and launch detection rules in a no-code builder instead of filing IT tickets and waiting months. On top of that sit real-time transaction monitoring, a 360Β° customer view, sanctions and PEP screening, customer risk scoring and case investigation tooling. It runs as SaaS or on-premise. The open-source core (github.com/checkmarble/marble) is a strategic choice, not a community gimmick. Auditors and regulators can see exactly how a decision was reached, which is the question every compliance officer eventually has to answer. For a bank, the code being inspectable is a procurement advantage. The Series A pushes into AI agents that do the repetitive investigation work. French Tech Journal reports that analysts wade through thousands of alerts a day and about 95% are false positives. Marble wants agents to clear that noise so humans only handle the cases that need judgment. Arnaud's framing on LinkedIn: "You cannot out-hire financial crime. So we're going to out-build it."
Why this matters
Compliance is a headcount problem that grows with transaction volume. Per the company, fraud and AML work eats 10-15% of staff time at regulated firms, and Arnaud told French Tech Journal the alert load is "no longer human manageable." Regulation is tightening in Europe at the same time: the new EU AML authority (AMLA) is setting common standards, and payment-fraud rules are moving toward shared liability and fraud-information sharing. Marble already protects more than 3bn transactions a year for 100+ institutions in 25+ countries. About 70% of customers are outside France, and about 70% switched from a competing tool. Smartfin's Saumitra Dubey: "Automation for FRAML has gone from niche to inevitable."
Investors: Smartfin (lead, Saumitra Dubey), ADNEXUS, Passion Capital, 42Capital, Hexa
Hiring outlook
Implied but strong. The round explicitly funds AI features and faster deployments, and there is an ~β¬5M ARR target for 2027 with 70% of customers international. Marble links a careers page from its site, but we couldn't read the role list, so specific openings are unconfirmed.

What to show them
Run Marble's open-source repo locally, generate a synthetic transaction stream with a few planted laundering patterns, and build a small agent that triages the resulting alerts. It should write a short, auditor-readable rationale for each dismissal and escalation. Report precision on the planted cases and show two rationales side by side.

What Marble screens for
Smartfin is a Benelux fintech-and-B2B-software fund that likes capital-efficient companies with real revenue, and Marble reached 100+ production customers on β¬2.5M before this round. Existing backers Passion, 42Cap and Hexa all increased their stakes, a clean insider signal. The hiring window is the AI pivot. The rules engine is mature, and now they need people who can build investigation agents that auditors will accept. That is a narrow skill set (LLM agents plus regulated-decision explainability), so a candidate who can show both is rare.
Don't send a generic CV to Marble. Mirror the job posting's language to get past automated screening.
Don't make these mistakes
Explaining fraud or AML to them, or pitching 'AI will replace compliance teams.' Arnaud was COO at the neobank Shine and Pascal ran data engineering there and acted as its data protection officer, so they lived this problem from the regulated side. They sell auditability. A candidate who proposes a black-box model that 'just catches more fraud' has missed the product. Lead with explainability and false-positive reduction.
Mistakes that kill Marble applications
At people, a copy-paste CV is immediately obvious. It's an instant no.
Lead with their problem, not your ambition. Marble is focused on Compliance is a headcount problem that grows with transaction volume β show you understand that.
Don't apply and wait. The median Tech application gets no response ever. One follow-up at day five roughly doubles reply rates.
