The Role

We are looking for an experienced Banking & Finance Lawyer, with at least 5 years in the industry, to join our Legal Team and support the Corporate Lending Department.

The position is based in Athens, Greece, and reports to the Legal Director (Head of Legal).

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, negotiate and finalise financing agreements, including loans, bond loans and project finance transactions with complex multi-layered structures, and the related security and collateral documentation;
  • Provide legal opinions on the proposed security package (pledges, assignments, mortgages and charges over land, and security over movable property), assessing its validity, enforceability and efficiency;
  • Assess whether the Bank is adequately secured, and flag legal risks, gaps and inconsistencies between the financing documents, the security documents and the underlying business transaction;
  • Take a hands-on role across the full deal lifecycle, from term sheet and due diligence through to signing, conditions precedent, drawdown and closing;
  • Coordinate and organise internal stakeholders (Corporate Lending, Credit, Risk, Operations, Compliance) and external parties (borrowers, sponsors, external counsel, notaries, land registries, technical and other advisers);
  • Understand the commercial and business concepts behind each transaction and translate them into sound, bankable legal structures that protect the Bank's interests;
  • Liaise with external legal advisers, review their opinions and diligence reports, and manage their work product and timelines;
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to lending and security, and advise the Corporate Lending Team on their impact;
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the Bank's standard lending templates, security documentation and internal procedures.

At Viva.com, we believe in amplifying human potential through AI. When you join us, you're stepping into a future-forward environment where technology empowers every role, driving smarter, more efficient.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in banking and finance law, within a Credit Institution, Law Firm or Consulting firm, with proven experience in project finance and corporate lending transactions;
  • University degree in Law; a Master's in Banking and Finance Law, Commercial Law or a related field will be considered a strong advantage;
  • Strong track record in drafting and negotiating complex financing agreements and their collateral and security packages, including pledges, assignments of receivables, mortgages and security over movable property;
  • Sound knowledge of Greek and EU law as it applies to lending and security;
  • Ability to critically assess the efficiency of a security package, identify risks and inconsistencies, and express clear, practical legal opinions to business and credit stakeholders;
  • Good understanding of banking products, credit processes and the business concepts behind financed projects, with the ability to bridge legal analysis and commercial needs;
  • Fluent in English and Greek, with strong relationship-building and influencing skills, able to engage effectively with internal stakeholders, external counsel, borrowers and other counterparties;
