HIFI

Settlement infrastructure for money moving between stablecoins and bank rails

What HIFI is building

HIFI is one API for moving dollars between stablecoins and the regulated banking system. On the payments side, businesses get USD virtual accounts, inflows from banks, cards and wallets, instant RTP and push-to-card payouts through Visa Direct, and direct stablecoin minting and redemption. Settlement runs through a partnership with Cross River Bank. Around that sit programmable primitives: Controls for approval workflows and restrictions on capital, and Workflows, which the company describes as running 'money as code' with conditional transfers and settlement across chains. The thesis is Zach Walsh's line that 'we think of settlement as one problem, not three.' Payments, cards and tokenized securities all come down to delivering cash against something on a ledger that never closes. That's why a stablecoin payments company is also settling the cash leg of tokenized repo and Treasury trades. HIFI took part in DTCC's July production trades with DTC-tokenized assets, alongside BlackRock, Goldman Sachs and Nasdaq, and in DTCC's tokenized repo pilot. The traction is real infrastructure scale. The company reports more than $7B in annualized volume, 4x customer usage growth in six months, and more than 10,000 businesses and 200,000 individuals onboarded through its fintech customers, with payouts reaching 87 countries. Named customers and partners include Sumitomo, Tradeweb, DRW, Marex, Circle and Visa.

Why this matters

Cointelegraph, citing industry data, reports $220.3B in cross-border stablecoin flows in the 12 months to June 2026, up 77.5%, and that growth came during a weak crypto market. At the same time, Wall Street's own plumbing (DTCC, Tradeweb) is running tokenized securities in production. Zach's argument is that 'the ledger for tokenized money runs continuously, but very little of the infrastructure around it was built with that in mind.' Banks close at 5pm and chains don't. The company that owns the regulated bridge between the two, with the licenses, compliance and bank partners, earns a fee on every dollar that crosses it.

How to actually get hired at HIFI

Why applying the normal way doesn't work

There's an ATS, but at HIFI, referrals get priority. Your cold application competes with sourced candidates and internal recommendations.

What to show them

A short memo mapping which state money-transmitter licenses and international registrations HIFI's current product set (virtual accounts, push-to-card, mint and redeem) would need to expand into two named markets, and what a sponsor bank like Cross River already covers.

A cold email that works at HIFI

Subject: Backend / Payments Infrastructure Engineer, [your one-line proof]
Hi Zach, you said the Series A pays for more licenses. I've run MTL filings before and mapped what push-to-card plus stablecoin redemption would need for the UK and UAE, with the gaps Cross River doesn't cover. One page, if it's useful.

What HIFI screens for

Zach says he picked Left Lane because it backs founders taking on 'hard problems in complex markets' and brings 'real operating support.' Managing Partner Matt Miller joins the board. This is HIFI's first priced round, closed after the Visa, Circle and DTCC milestones landed. That timing says investors are backing a regulated-infrastructure company, not a crypto bet. Licenses and international expansion mean compliance and payments engineering hires come first. With no reqs posted yet, reaching out now puts you ahead of the posting.

Don't make these mistakes

Don't open with crypto enthusiasm. Zach came up through consumer payments at Uber, Sony Music and Quadpay, and HIFI sells to Sumitomo and Tradeweb, not degens. Words like 'web3' or 'to the moon' will get you filtered. Also don't treat stablecoins as only a payments story. His whole thesis is that payments, cards and tokenized securities settlement are one problem, so a pitch that only covers remittances misses the point.

Mistakes that kill HIFI applications

Generic CVs stand out at a -person company — and not in a good way. Fastest path to rejection.

Don't open with what you want. Open with what HIFI is dealing with right now — Cointelegraph, citing industry data, reports $220, and what you'd do about it.

Most AI applications get ghosted. A day-five follow-up can double your response rate.
