Frequently asked questions

How does the cold email generator work?

You paste the job posting and your background (or attach your resume), add a link to something you made if you have one, and pick a tone. It writes a short email to the hiring manager that leads with that link and ties something you've already done to what the role needs. It's the same writer our members' emails come from.

Will it sound like AI wrote it?

It's built not to. No “I hope this finds you well”, no “I came across your posting”, no three tidy paragraphs, no enthusiasm with nothing behind it. It writes 25 to 80 words, uneven like a person typing, and redrafts when it catches itself using a stock line. Read it once before you send it; it's your name at the bottom.

Will it make things up about me?

No. Every fact about you comes from what you paste or upload. It won't invent a number, an employer or a result, and if your background is thin it says what you did plainly instead of dressing it up.

Who should I send it to?

The person who runs the team the role sits on, or a founder at a startup under about 30 people. A recruiter is a fine second email, but the hiring manager decides. Our comparison of hiring manager email finders covers how to find them and their address.

Is it free?

Yes, a few emails an hour with no account. Autopilot, the paid product, does this for every new startup role that fits you, and finds the hiring manager and checks their address too.

Is my information stored?

No. The posting and your background are used to write the email and aren't saved.
